The Ukrainian Defense Ministry has declined to confirm that an unmanned aerial vehicle allegedly shot down on Tuesday over the self-proclaimed Transdniestrian Moldovan Republic was Ukrainian.

“I cannot confirm this information. I think it is wrong,” Ukrainian
Deputy Defense Minister Leonid Poliakov said at a news conference at the
Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday.

Poliakov said such reports appeared earlier as well.

The Transdniestrian State Security Committee (KGB) reported on
Tuesday that an unmanned aerial vehicle had been shot down over the
self-proclaimed republic’s territory. “Based on preliminary findings,
the UAV was launched from Ukrainian territory by a group of people
presumably belonging to operational-technical services of the Ukrainian
Security Service, or the Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s General Staff, or
members of Right Sector with the purpose of conducting reconnaissance
operations over the territory of the Transdniestrian Moldovan Republic,”
the KGB said.
