You're reading: Ukraine devising plan to implement Geneva accords

Representatives of the countries that signed the Geneva agreement last week are working in Kyiv to draw up an action plan to settle the situation in the east of Ukraine, Ukraine's Acting Foreign Minister Andriy Deschytsia said.

“We have been planning measures to de-escalate tensions in Ukraine’s eastern regions since Friday, involving the four parties that adopted the Geneva agreements,” he said at a press briefing in Kyiv on Monday.

He also said that he would personally keep Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov updated on the results, if Russian diplomats do not do this.

“If representatives of the Russian embassy, who are also involved in this work, do not inform the Russian foreign minister about these measures, I will personally inform Minister Lavrov about what has been done,” Deschytsia said.

Lavrov said on Monday that the Ukrainian leadership has been crudely violating the agreements, reached in Geneva last week by representatives of Russia, the United States, the European Union and Ukraine.
