You're reading: Ukraine did not request IMF to extend stand-by program

Ukraine is satisfied with the amount of the Stand-By Arrangement within cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), fund official representative Gerry Rice has said at a press briefing in Washington.

“The IMF program is now fully funded, and the Ukrainian authorities have not requested to extend it,” he said.

In addition, the official noted that the IMF program foresees
cooperation with Ukraine and other international financial donors, due
to which a high-level donor coordination meeting on the prospects of aid
to Ukraine was held under the auspices of the European Commission in
Brussels on July 8. Following the meeting, a donor conference for
Ukraine is scheduled for this autumn, added Rice.

In addition, asked by journalists the fund representative strongly
refuted the view on Ukrainian authorities’ using the funds provided for
military operations in the east.

“We discussed this issue earlier. The IMF funds are issued to support
state finances, [and] the way they are used is constantly monitored,”
he said.
