Tallinn, Estonia – A protocol of intent between the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine and the Ministry of   Economic Affairs and Communications of Estonia on cooperation in the development of the transport corridor between the Baltic Sea and the Black Sea was signed in Tallinn on Oct. 15.

Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Kozak and Estonian Economic Affairs and Communications Minister Juhan Parts signed the document.

The protocol envisages the creation of favorable conditions for the development of transport links between the Black Sea and the Baltic Sea, and the expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of logistics, transportation of goods and passengers.

According to the press service of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, the signing of the protocol will allow the further development of the transport corridor between the Baltic Sea and the Black Sea using container trains, in particular the Zubr train, extending the number of countries participating in the existing route through involving other interested parties (Turkey and the Scandinavian countries). In addition, this will allow additional freight to be attracted, expand the geography of routes through engaging interested countries, and establish competitive tariff conditions.

The protocol also provides for the intensification of cooperation between the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications of Estonia, as well as between the railway authorities of the two countries.
