Ukraine plans to buy up to 2 billion cubic meters of Russian natural gas monthly in November and Dec. 2014, however, considering a lack of financing, the actual volumes should be determined in consultations with the European Commission by Oct. 27, Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yuriy Prodan said.

“We are consulting [with the European Commission] on the volume to be bought by the end of the year and the sum to be paid for it,” Prodan said at a news conference summing up outcomes of negotiations on gas between Ukraine, Russia and the EU in Brussels on Oct. 21.

Ukraine also plans to import about 1 billion cubic meters of gas monthly from Europe in this period, he said.
