Security and defense will rank among the key issues on the agenda of a Ukraine-EU summit to be held in Kyiv on April 27, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis said at a press briefing in Kyiv on April 21.

He said the summit will be attended by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, European Council head Donald Tusk, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and the European Union’s foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini.

“The summit will address a wide spectrum of bilateral issues, the implementation of the Ukraine-EU association agreement, the action plan to relax visa travel and macro-financial aid provided by the European Union. Special attention will be given to security and defense issues,” he said.

An international conference in support of Ukraine is to be held on April 28, he said. Kyiv officials will inform Western partners about reforms being implemented in decentralization, combating corruption and carrying out constitutional reform, Perebyinis said.
