ASTANA – Atyrau region (Kazakhstan) born Ardager Mukhitov, who is accused of being involved in terrorism, has been extradited from Ukraine to Kazakhstan, the press service of Kazakh Prosecutor General's Office reported on Wednesday.

"Today, upon the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ardager Mukhitov, born in Atyrau region in 1983, was extradited from Ukraine to Kazakhstan," reads the press release.

Earlier, Mukhitov was on the international wanted list on suspicion of committing crimes against public security on the territory of Kazakhstan.

"In particular, the investigatory agencies charged Mukhitov under Article 233-2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan for taking part in the activities of a terror group," reads the statement.

The investigation into the case against Mukhitov is continuing.

Some media reported that Mukhitov was detained in Ukraine on suspicion of being involved in terror acts in Atyrau (the administrative center of Atyrau region in Kazakhstan). The Foreign Ministry of Kazakhstan confirmed the reports of his detention but did not specify the exact reason for it.

On Oct. 31, 2011 two blasts hit Atyrau. First an unidentified object went off in a dustbin, and a few minutes later a man blew himself up on vacant ground in Saryarka district. Two criminal cases on terrorism were opened. The investigation discovered that the radical organization Soldiers of the Caliphate, which consists of Kazakh nationals that support Afghani soldiers and hide abroad, organized the bombings.
