Ukraine welcomes the adoption of new EU and U.S. sanctions against Russia, Ukraine's Presidential Administration has said.

“Ukraine welcomes a responsible decision by the EU to strengthen
sanctions against Russia… For the first time since the beginning of
Russian aggression against Ukraine, EU sanctions have gone beyond
personal restrictive measures like freezing of accounts and visa bans,”
Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Valeriy Chaly said at a
briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday, July 30.

He called it an “appropriate step” on the part of European partners, which is a sign of compliance with values by the EU.

“We believe that such steps are effective enough: they will produce a
resul t,” he said, adding that a third package of sanctions against
Russia “has become a reality.”

In his opinion, a very important reason for such actions by the EU
and the United States was the unchanged situation in Donetsk and Luhansk
regions, where militants continue to receive equipment and fire support
from Russia, as well as the crash of the Malaysia Airlines aircraft in
eastern Ukraine.
