Ukraine hopes to increase the export of agricultural products and agricultural equipment, as well as agricultural machinery and spares to Iran. 

According to the press service of the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine, Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk said this at a meeting with Ambassador of Iran to Ukraine Akbar Ghasemi Ali Abadi in Kyiv on Monday.

According to him, Ukraine is primarily interested in expanding the supplies of grains, sugar, dairy products to Iran, as well as the import of fertilizers from this country.

“In 2012, the structure of Ukrainian exports to Iran changed significantly. Currently the share of agricultural products and food prevails, and is 64%, which is 28% more compared to 2011,” the press service said.

Prysiazhniuk said the export of Ukrainian goods to Iran in 2012 increased by 3.8%, to $1.17 billion. Trade turnover between the two countries last year amounted to $1.237 billion.

In addition, the parties discussed the establishment of an expert Ukrainian-Iranian ad hoc group to settle trade issues. According to the minister, the group should start working in late February – early March 2013.
