Ukraine is ready to receive 250 children from quake- and tsunami-hit regions of Japan for rehabilitation and treatment, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.

"We proposed to receive in Ukraine 250 children from Japan for rehabilitation and treatment at our Artek International Children’s Center," he told reporters at the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine on Wednesday.

According to the president, he discussed such a proposal with the ambassador of Japan to Ukraine during his visit to the embassy.

Yanukovych visited the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine on Wednesday and made an entry in the book of condolences.

In turn, the ambassador of Japan to Ukraine expressed gratitude to the Ukrainian president and the Ukrainian people for the condolences on the natural disasters and nuclear accident, as well as for the proposed help.
