Ukraine, Italy to agree on transit of military cargoes across Ukrainian territory

To organize regular transportation of military cargo and staff of the Italian contingent to Afghanistan across the territory of Ukraine, the Italian side proposed to conclude a relevant agreement.

The governments of Ukraine and Italy are to sign an agreement on the transit of military cargo across the territory of Ukraine, according to the press service of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine.

According to the ministry, on August 8 the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved an instruction on the signing of an agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the government of Italy on the transportation of military cargo and staff across the territory of Ukraine in connection with the participation of the Italian Armed Forces in international security assistance missions in Afghanistan.

To organize regular transportation of military cargo and staff of the Italian contingent to Afghanistan across the territory of Ukraine, the Italian side proposed to conclude a relevant agreement.

The agreement will deal with framework terms, the procedure and organization of transit transportations of military cargo and staff across the territory and airspace of Ukraine.

Ukraine will assist the Italian side on a paid basis.
