Chief of the information group covering the law enforcement operation in southeastern Ukraine Vladyslav Selezniov has denied reports claiming that the military carried out an airstrike on Luhansk State Regional Administration building on June 2.

“The Air Force said that no weapons were used in the center of Luhansk, or near the state regional administration building when combat tasks were being fulfilled in Luhansk,” Selezniov told journalists by telephone on June 3.

The press service of the self-declared Luhansk People’s Republic said on Monday that the Ukrainian Air Force dropped cluster bombs on the Luhansk state regional administration building, killing eight people.

The press officer of the law enforcement operation, Oleksiy Dmytrashkovsky, said that an explosion went off inside the regional administration building and that no shots were fired from outside of the building, or from the air. “Mishandling fire arms, or explosives was the most likely cause of the explosion,” he said.

Oleksandr Rozmaznin, acting head of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Personnel Department, said the explosions inside the regional administration building resulted from an attack with a man-portable missile launcher from the Security Service building occupied by the militia.

Chief of the Luhansk regional Health Department Pavlo Malysh, said on Monday that at least two people were killed in the explosion.
