The governments of Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania will sign an agreement on the creation of a trilateral joint brigade on Friday, Sep. 19, the Polish presidential press service reported.

According to the report, the document will be signed in Warsaw by the defense ministers of the three countries in the presence of Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski.

According to earlier reports, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk authorized Ukrainian Defense Minister Valeriy Heletei to sign an agreement between the governments of Ukraine, Lithuania and Poland on the creation of a joint military brigade in August 2014. The Ukrainian Cabinet had approved a draft agreement on the creation of a Ukrainian-Lithuanian-Polish military brigade on May 27.

The trilateral document emerged back in November 2009, when the defense ministers of Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine signed a document stating their intentions to create a joint trilateral military unit, a brigade, thus contributing to the strengthening of regional and Euro-Atlantic stability and security.
