You're reading: Ukraine positions in Donbas under fire on 20 occasions on April 20

The Ukrainian military said on April 20 evening that it had recorded 20 violations of the ceasefire in Donbas during the day.

In the Donetsk region, areas near the town of Avdiyivka were the targets of particularly intense fire. Ukrainian positions there came under four mortar attacks and one attack with the use of an anti-aircraft system, the press center for the armed operation in eastern Ukraine said in a report.

In the area of Pisky village, Ukrainian positions were battered on five occasions, with mortars being among the weapons used. An anti-aircraft system, machineguns and automatic grenade launchers were used in an alleged attack near Opytne village, the report said.

Ukrainian forces positioned outside Shyrokyne village came under two attacks, with mortars and small arms being used.

In the Luhansk region, Ukrainian positions near the town of Schastia were attacked, with an anti-tank gun and a sniper rifle being used, the press center said.

It said there had been no attacks on any populated areas on April 20, however.
