 Ukraine has launched a thorough investigation into the shooting on the Russian-Ukrainian state border, in which a Russian customs officer was injured, the information policy department of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has reported.

"All circumstances of the incident will be thoroughly investigated by law enforcement agencies of Ukraine. We express wishes for a speedy recovery to an employee of the Russian customs service. Simultaneously we draw attention to the fact that according to the Defense Ministry, Ukrainian Armed Forces units involved in the anti-terrorist operation did not use and will not use artillery and mortars as part of measures to restore the regime of Ukraine's state border," the ministry said.

The ministry said that "given the beginning of the implementation of a plan by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko for the peaceful settlement of the situation in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the unconditional observance of the regime of ceasing the use of force is critically important for achieving the immediate de-escalation of the situation in the region."

As reported, a Russian customs officer was injured in clashes between Ukrainian security forces and militants near the Dovzhansky checkpoint in Luhansk region.
