You're reading: Ukraine prosecutor denies Ukrainian military’s link to mass graves

There are no mass graves of Ukrainian troops in the anti-terrorist operation zone, and there cannot be any, said Ukrainian Prosecutor General Vitaliy Yarema.

“There are mass graves near Sloviansk, where the militants buried accessories in the terrorist operations. We know such facts. As to claims about the mass graves allegedly left behind by the Ukrainian battalions – no such facts exist or are generally possible, since all of these matters are monitored by law enforcement services and international organizations,” Yarema said in Kyiv on Tuesday when asked by Russian reporters to comment on reports about mass graves allegedly made by the Ukrainian military in eastern Ukraine.

He said that each servicemen and each law enforcement officer sent to fight is on file with the interior or defense ministry.

“Concerning relations with civilians, all problems arising are dealt with by the local administrations and law enforcement agencies,” Yarema said.
