During an extended visiting board meeting in Chernivtsi, Head of the State Customs Service of Ukraine Ihor Kaletnik said he hopes for the rapid resolution of the issue, "meanwhile, we should find ways to more effectively use the operating checkpoints." According to him, today only five checkpoints, including three in Zakarpattia region and two in Chernivtsi region, are operating, "while 20 checkpoints are foreseen on this border."

"This shows serious potential and possibilities of our countries for expanding the geography and increasing volumes of goods transportation across our border," he said.

Head of the National Tax Administration of Romania Viorel Comanita, Head of Chernivtsi Regional State Administration Mykhailo Papiev, Ambassador of Romania to Ukraine Cornel Ionescu and representatives of the local authorities of Romania participated in the meeting. The sides tackled important issues in cooperation between the regional authorities and customs officials.
