The governments of Ukraine and Romania on Oct. 2, signed an agreement on local border traffic.
The official ceremony of signing took place in Kyiv, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.
The document was signed by Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk on behalf of Ukraine, Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta signed it on behalf of Romania.
“The signing of the agreement today is another step towards Ukrainian citizens’ visa-free travels to the EU. Under the agreement, almost half a million Ukrainians who live in a 30-km area near the border with Romania will be able to travel to Romania without visas, and vice versa,” Yatseniuk said after the ceremony.
Ukraine fulfills an action plan with the EU for visa-free travels, he said.
Yatseniuk also said he hopes that Ukrainians will be able to go to all EU countries without visas.
