Ukraine has suggested a compromise intermediate gas price be set at $326 per 1,000 cubic meters and negotiations continue until a final solution is found, Naftogaz Ukrainy CEO Andriy Kobolev told a press conference in Kyiv on Friday, June 13.

He said that price would be somewhere in the middle between $385
proposed by Gazprom and $268.5 favored by Ukraine. “This price can be
intermediate, i.e. enacted for a period of 18 months during which
Ukraine will be paying it,” he said.

Kobolev also said that Ukraine was ready to pay for Russian gas
delivered earlier and for current gas deliveries if the intermediate gas
price were approved.

“We will either agree on a fair price or bring the issue to the
arbitration court in 18 months. After that, if the price is lower [than
the intermediate price of $326] Gazprom will pay us a refund, and if it
is higher, we will pay extra,” the Naftogaz CEO said.
