The Ukrainian issue has been put on the agenda of the 50th Munich Security Conference, which is slated for late January 2014, Germany's international broadcaster Deutsche Welle has reported.

According to the dpa news agency, this year’s debate of the world’s leading politicians will be dedicated to “the conflict in Syria, as well as in Ukraine.”

“The discussion of the situation in hot spots and risk zones is traditional for this forum,” reads the report.

According to Deutsche Welle, 18 heads of state and government, 50 foreign ministers and ten heads of international organizations have already confirmed their participation in the conference. About 300 politicians and experts on security policy from around the world are expected to attend the conference.

In 2009, the Munich conference was attended by former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.

Incumbent Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych spoke at the 48th Munich Security Conference in 2012 during a panel on “Energy, Resources and the Environment: New Security Parameters.”

The 50th Munich Security Conference will be held from January 31 to February 2, 2014.
