Ukraine will continue active cooperation with the OSCE special monitoring mission (SMM) in monitoring the ceasefire in the east of the country and expects an increase in the number of monitors and the enlargement of the territory subject to monitoring by the OSCE, Ukrainian Foreign Minister spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis said.

‘The number of the SMM members is to be increased and the geographical coverage of their monitoring area is to be expanded soon. The mission is to be boosted up to 350 monitors,” Perebyinis said at a briefing in Kyiv on Sept. 23.

As of today, there are 78 OSCE SMM members in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, 32 of them are in Severodonetsk, 14 in Kramatorsk, 20 in the city of Donetsk, and 12 in Mariupol.

As was earlier reported, the OSCE plans to boost the SMM in eastern Ukraine from 80 to 500 people.
