Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that the new military doctrine will reflect the task of redeploying armed forces and creating military infrastructure in the east and south of Ukraine.

“Not only does the new military doctrine acknowledge the Russian Federation as a military adversary of Ukraine, it also sets the task of redeploying armed forces and formations and creating proper military infrastructure in the eastern and southern regions,” the president told the National Security and Defense Council in Kyiv on Sep. 2.

All current military threats and challenges facing Ukraine “are unfortunately associated with Russia, and all of them, again unfortunately […] are of a long-term nature,” he said.
