You're reading: Ukraine to reconstruct over 9,000 km of roads in 2013-2014

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is expecting road organizations over the next two years to renovate over 9,000 km of roads, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Vilkul said at a meeting of the Infrastructure Ministry of Ukraine in Kyiv on Tuesday.

“We plan to complete a bridge across the Dnipro River in Zaporizhia,
build bypass roads around big cities and continue the construction of
highways. We will continue to create a high-quality highways to connect
regions from the east to the west, from one border to another,” he said.

Vilkul said at present it is required to effectively organize the
work of road infrastructure enterprises, and the roads of state and
local importance would be clearly separated.

As reported, the State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine
(Ukravtodor) intends to complete the patching of Ukrainian roads by May 1
this year.

The work is mainly being carried out on the following roads:
Kyiv-Odesa, Kyiv-Chernihiv, Stry-Ternopil-Kirovohrad-Znamianka,
Zhytomyr-Vinnytsia, Kyiv-Znamianka, Dnipropetrovsk-Reshetylivka,
Dnipropetrovsk-Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad-Mykolaiv, Znamianka-Luhansk-Izvaryne
and other state roads.
