From the beginning of 2012, 750,000 tourists visited the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, what is 8.6% more year-over-year, the Crimea resort and information center reported, referring to Crimean Resorts and Tourism Minister Oleksandr Liyev.

According to him, a similar situation was seen last year. In general compared to 2010, the tourist flow rose by 17% for H1 2012.

“This [tourist flow increase] is connected with the program entitled
“Days of Crimea”, which was held in 2011-2012. Over this time we taught
over 600 tourist agencies of Ukraine, Russia, Baltic States and
Azerbaijan to sell the Crimean tourist product. We met with more than a
thousand doctors from these regions,” the minister said.

He also noted that to increase the tourist flow, extra trains to
Lviv, Kharkiv, Kyiv and other destinations were introduced. Crimean air
links with Baku, Samara, Chelyabinsk and Kazan were created.
