Ukraine has supported a Polish initiative to establish a European Energy Union, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said, when speaking to the Sejm.

“We welcome the idea of our Polish friends to establish the European Energy Union aimed at ensuring greater energy security and energy independence for the entire European continent,” he said.

Poroshenko said Ukraine is grateful to Poland as it jointly with Slovakia is providing gas supplies from Europe to our country.

As reported, in spring this year Donald Tusk proposed establishing the European Energy Union. The purpose of the union is to integrate EU markets, turn gas from a political weapon into commodity.”We welcome the idea of our Polish friends to establish the European Energy Union aimed at ensuring greater energy security and energy independence for the entire European continent,” he said.
