Ukraine stopped pumping gas into underground gas storage (UGS) facilities on Oct. 20 and started withdrawing it.

Withdrawals rose nearly 42 percent on Oct. 21, gas pipeline operator Ukrtransgaz said.

Ukraine pumped 3.04 million cubic meters into UGS facilities on Oct. 19, raising overall gas stocks to 16.76 bcm. But 10.81 mcm were withdrawn on Oct. 20 and 15.35 mcm on Oct. 21, when UGS facilities contained 16.75 bcm.

Ukrainian had stored 16.672 bcm of gas as of Oct. 1. Gas stocks grew 5.8 percent during September.
