Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Koval sees no need to impose the state of emergency in conflict-ridden regions, member of the UDAR faction in Verkhovna Rada Serhiy Kunitsyn said.
“The defense minister said he doesn’t need a state of emergency
because Guard Regulations are sufficient… he said that if, say, someone
attacks the Kramatorsk airfield, servicemen will use arms pursuant to
the effective regulations. Why impose a state of emergency, if the
existing regulations permit the use of arms against those who attempt to
attack depots or army units?” Kunitsyn related the essence of Koval’s
speech at a closed Verkhovna Rada meeting to the press on Wednesday.
That was his answer to the question concerning whether the
introduction of a state of emergency or martial law in southeastern
Ukraine was discussed at the closed session which involved the heads of
law enforcement and defense agencies.
