Militants who came from the Russian Federation are frustrating the settlement of the situation in the east of Ukraine, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Danylo Lubkivsky has said.

“Russian militants disrupt the process of settlement [of the
conflict]. Just in the last two days, from the moment the ceasefire was
announced,, over 30 cases of violations of the truce by the Russian
militants have been registered,” he said at a briefing in Kyiv on June 24.

According to Lubkivsky, these examples demonstrate the real intentions of the militants.

“The Russian terrorists aren’t interested in life and the security of
people. Their aim is to disrupt Ukrainian sovereignty, peace and
tranquility in the region,” he said.

Moreover, the deputy foreign minister said that Ukraine together with
the whole world community demands real support for Ukrainian President
Petro Poroshenko’s peace plan, “efficient defense of the borders from
the terrorists” and the use of absolutely all influences on illegal
terrorist formations” in the east of Ukraine.

The diplomat said that Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin on
Tuesday will present items of the peace plan at OSCE annual conference
in Vienna, and on June 25 he will present it at the Ukraine-NATO
commission meeting in Brussels.

Besides, a visit by German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier to Ukraine is also a part of the peace plan.

However, Russia is continuing its information and economic war against Ukraine, Lubkivsky said.

“Economic pressure and restrictions now are being felt – the gas
blackmail forced Ukraine to regroup and move to new conditions for the
functioning of its energy sector,” Lubkivsky said.
