You're reading: Ukraine’s EU ambassador: EU Council’s conclusions on Ukraine to open prospects for signature of Association Agreement

BRUSSELS -  Ukraine's envoy to the EU, Ambassador Kostiantyn Yeliseyev hopes that conclusions of the EU Council on the Ukrainian issue will open up real prospects for the signature of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement.

“I hope that the EU Council’s conclusions that are to be approved on December 10 will open up real prospects for the signature and temporary introduction of the Association Agreement, including [the part on the creation of] a comprehensive and deep free trade area,” the ambassador said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine in Brussels on Friday.

In addition, the Ukrainian diplomat said that with this decision the European foreign ministers would give a green light to the organization of the EU-Ukraine Summit, the date for which is to be announced soon.

“In my opinion, it’s time for the EU to give a definite signal of firm support to Ukraine on its way of reform implementation contributing to rapprochement with the EU. The EU’s future decision on Ukraine definitely has to stimulate support for Ukraine’s European integration,” Yeliseyev said.
