Ukraine's external debt up 2.3% in 2009 - National Bank

Total external debt in Ukraine increased 2.3% to $103.973 billion in 2009, the National Bank of Ukraine said in a statement. The external debt declined 0.8% in the fourth quarter, from $104.795 billion. State borrowing in 2009 increased 48.9% to $17.806 billion, including an 11.9% increase in the fourth quarter.

The external debt in the banking sector shrank 22% to $30.788 billion in 2009, including a 9.4% decline in the fourth quarter.
