You're reading: Government amends procedure for issuing employment permits to foreigners

The Cabinet of Ministers has adopted new employment procedures for foreigners and people without citizenship in Ukraine, said Oleh Prutenko, deputy director of the labor and employment department at the Social Policy Ministry.

He said job permits will not be issued for a fee worth four minimum salaries, or Hr 4,588 at the moment.

The new fee is introduced following a Cabinet of Ministers decree “On issuing, prolongation the action and cancelation of the permission to use the labor of foreigners and people without citizenship.”  According to Prutenko, permits will be issued to foreign applicants if there are no unemployed Ukrainians with related qualifications found on the list of the state employment service.

Prutenko also said the system of issuing permits has been simplified. In particular, the number of necessary documents was cut from 15 to eight. Moreover, the State Employment Service is now limited to 15 days to take a dicision, down from 30 days before. Employment permits will be issues for up to one year.

According to the State Employment Service, this year employees received about 8,000 permits to for foreign workers and people without citizenship.
