Ukraine is interested in the recovery of the Sea Launch international consortium, which puts satellites into near-earth orbit, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said at a meeting with Brazil's Ambassador to Ukraine Antonio Fernando Cruz de Mello.

The premier noted that the implementation of the project on the construction of a launch pad in the frames of the Sea Launch project was suspended due to political instability in Ukraine, the press service of the Ukrainian government reported.

"Now the government is ready to rehabilitate this project," Azarov said.

"We are also ready to cooperate with Brazil in implementing this project," the premier stressed.

In turn, the ambassador said that Brazil wants to implement a chief national project – the construction of a launch pad not far from equator – together with Ukraine. He said that this project is among the priority projects of Brazil’s cooperation with Ukraine.

The diplomat stressed that both Ukraine and Brazil need a wider coverage of this project in the media.

He also called for holding a number of presentations together with Ukraine’s Central Design Institute, which is a chief designer of this space project and Dnipropetrovsk-based Pivdenmash enterprise in the National Congress, the Academy of Sciences and the Defense Ministry of Brazil as well as in other agencies.

According to the ambassador, Brazil is looking forward to a visit of the leadership of the Central Design Institute and Pivdenmash aimed at promoting the project.

Besides, the parties said they are ready to hold a meeting of an intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation.

The ambassador said that Brazil is interested in investing into the Ukrainian economy and is ready to boost the purchase of mineral fertilizers in Ukraine.
