Colonel Yuriy Lebid, acting head of the department of the Eastern Operative-Territorial Junction, who was earlier taken captive, has been released, the press service for the Ukrainian National Guard said on Facebook.

The colonel was released on May 19, the press service reported. He is
now undergoing rehabilitation and will begin working soon, the report
says.

The press service recalled that a group of unknown individuals had
abducted the officer from his residence in the Donetsk region on May 12.

“The law enforcement agencies are now investigating the circumstances surrounding his captivity,” the report says.

Lebed has been acting head of the department of the Eastern
Operative-Territorial Junction for about a month. He earlier headed a
special task regiment Tyhr (Tiger, Crimea), which patrolled the most
problem areas in Kyiv during the Euromaidan protest. He has eight
military units under his command, of which four are stationed in the
Donetsk region, one in Luhansk, one in Kharkiv, and two in the Sumy
region.
