Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has signed decrees replacing the chief of the Armed Forces General Staff.

The head of state has dismissed Mykhailo Kutsyn and replaced him with Viktor Muzhenko as the new chief of the General Staff.

The president put Muzhenko on the inter-agency coordination board of the Anti-Terrorist Center at the Security Service of Ukraine. Muzhenko is the first deputy head of the Anti-terrorist Center, according to the document.

Presenting to the parliament his proposals on army appointments on July 3, the president said that Kutsyn was shell-shocked in the security operation zone in east Ukraine.

Kutsyn was appointed the chief of the General Staff on Feb. 28, 2014.
