As the supplier of modern weapons to illegal armed units in Ukraine, Russia is also responsible for the death of the passengers on board Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 downed in eastern Ukraine, Ukrainian Permanent Representative to the UN Yuriy Serheyev said at a UN Security Council meeting on July 18.

Ukraine regularly reports facts confirming that Russia supports militants in the east of Ukraine, he said.

In particular, he mentioned an open-air exhibition in Kyiv where weapons with Russian army identifying markings, which were seized from Russian-backed separatists, were on display.

He also said that recruitment centers in Russia work openly to enroll volunteers for combat operations in Ukraine.

Since the beginning of the conflict in the east of Ukraine, Russia has never warned its citizens against participating in the Ukrainian hostilities, Serheyev said. “This fact alone speaks for itself,” he added.
