SEVASTOPOL – The Volodymyr Velyky corvette for the Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is being built at Chornomorsky Ship Building Yard in Mykolaiv at an accelerated pace, Executive Director of the Fund for the Revival of the Ukrainian Fleet charity organization Vadym Makhno said.

“We have managed to pay for the drawings of ventilation and cooling
systems of the first six compartments, which Equator plant made by for
our little money and passed them to the producer plant. As a result, the
building of the corvette was not suspended,” he said at a press
conference at the IPC Sevastopol media center on Nov. 24.

According to Makhno, today the building of the corvette is going ahead of schedule, and the government continues financing.

The fund spent over Hr 150,000 of charitable funds on its building,” he said.

He also said that one of the Sevastopol companies is ready to supply new artillery systems for the corvette.

“A private Sevastopol company is manufacturing Ukrainian artillery systems for our corvette,” said Makhno.

He said these are not prototypes to be tested but systems that are exported to two countries.
