You're reading: Ukrainian ambassador calls on EU to provide military assistance to stop Russian aggression

Ukraine's Ambassador to the European Union Kostiantyn Yeliseyev has said that Ukraine and the EU must together stop the war in the eastern part of Ukraine.

“We call for the holding of a special emergency session of the European Council on Ukraine on August 30,” he told Interfax-Ukraine in Brussels on Aug. 28.

“Solidarity should be absolute and unequivocal. It should be materialized into further decisive and significant sanctions and broad military and technical assistance to Ukraine to stop the aggressor,” Yeliseyev said.

He said that since the beginning of the Russian aggression, the European Council had adopted 11 conclusions on the situation in Ukraine and the European Parliament had approved four resolutions, calling on Russia to respect Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

“Was this not enough to understand that words do not mean anything for the Kremlin?” Yeliseyev said.
