You're reading: Ukrainian army says its positions in Donbas shelled overnight

The Ukrainian army positions were shelled eight times by illegal armed groups last night, according to anti-terrorist operation spokesman Leonid Matiukhin.

“In contrast to the previous nights, this night was not quiet in the ATO
zone,” he said at a press briefing on Dec. 29.

According to Matiukhin, militants were using light weapons, mortars and
artillery.

He claimed there was a clash in the area of Pervomaisk. Militants opened
light weapon fire at the new terminal of the Donetsk airport and the town of
Petrovske and used mortars to shell Pisky and to conduct two attacks on
Hranitne, Matiukhin said.
