An official ceremony on the transfer of medical equipment from Germany to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine took place at Border Guards' Central Clinical Hospital on Jan. 16.
The ceremony was attended by Chief of the State Border Service of Ukraine Viktor Nazarenko and German Ambassador to Ukraine Christof Weil, the State Border Guard Service’s press service said.
Modern medical equipment worth 100.000 euros designed for mobile ICUs was donated by Germany as part of the cooperation between the two countries.
Two mobile ICUs equipped with modern intensive care kits, as well as medical equipment, namely defibrillators, electrocardiogram devices, oxygen bottles for two more ambulances and medical bags with kits and medicines were demonstrated during the ceremony.
“I’m glad we’ve received such new, valuable medical equipment as a result of our cooperation. We appreciate such assistance very much because this equipment will provide additional possibilities for our medical workers to save lives and health of military personnel and to support border guards,” Nazarenko said.
He thanked the ambassador and the government of Germany for their aid.
In the near future, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine plans to further equip an ambulance helicopter and an armored ambulance, which will be used to evacuate the wounded from the frontline.
Weil in turn wished the Ukrainian border guards good health and success in the protection of the state’s border, and assured them that further support would come.
