The Diakove border outpost in Luhansk region has been assaulted by militants, the Ukrainian State Border Service reports.
“About 30 minutes ago, some 80 terrorists started assaulting the Diakove border unit,” Border Service spokesman Oleh Slobodian told Interfax-Ukraine on Friday evening.
The attackers are using assault rifles, grenade launchers, and machine-guns, he said.
Military aircraft have been sent to the border-guards’ aid.
The exchange of fire is under way now.
