The Marynivka border checkpoint in Shakhtarsk district in Donetsk region came under fire in the early hours of Wednesday morning, according to the Web site of the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service.

“A car stopped at around 2:30 pm within 300 meters of the checkpoint.
Several individuals, who emerged from the vehicle, opened fire at the
checkpoint,” the statement said.

The men managed to fire several bursts of gunfire with automatic
rifles, the statement said. “Border guards instantly opened return fire.
After that the assailants quickly vanished from the scene,” the
statement said.

Subsequently border guards found 5.45 mm and 7.62 mm cartridges at the place where the shooting came from, the statement said.
