Ukrainian Communist Party leader Petro Symonenko said he is convinced that some people set fire to the office of his party in Kyiv's Borysohlibska Street to hide evidence of robbery.

“It was arson. They tried to destroy evidence of a crime, looting and
stealing of equipment,” Symonenko told reporters in Kyiv on Thursday.

Symonenko said he suspects members of Right Sector and Freedom. He
said members of the Ukrainian Communist Party are now working remotely
and the party has no intention of selling its office or move from the
building, which is owned by the party.

The press service for the city’s emergency services earlier reported
that a fire had begun in the four-storey office at 10:20 p.m. on
Wednesday. No one was hurt in the fire, which damaged the basement and
the first and second floors (a total area of 220 square meters).

On Wednesday, representatives of the State Bailiff Service and police
freed the office of the Communist Party, which was taken over by
protesters in February without using force.
