You're reading: Ukrainian diplomats should work to attract foreign technical, financial, political aid – Poroshenko

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that the major task for Ukrainian diplomats is to work on attracting technical, financial and political assistance to the country.

“Another very important cause is attracting technical, financial, economic and political assistance to Ukraine,” the president said congratulating diplomats on their professional holiday in Kyiv on Dec. 22.

At the moment, Ukraine has a unique chance to receive large amounts of aid, so that it can work its way out of the situation where 20 percent of the country’s industrial potential remain in the occupied territories, nearly half of which has been destroyed, Poroshenko said.

“In these circumstances, we have very strong support, which is demonstrated by the IMF, the U.S., the EU, the G7 countries and many of G20,” he said.

Another important task for Ukrainian diplomats is to unite the world in solidarity with Ukraine, Poroshenko said.

Also, according to the president, Ukrainian embassies in foreign countries should promote Ukrainian business abroad.

“Ukrainian business is currently unable to work in Europe,” the president said explaining that he was speaking about the promotion of Ukrainian producers in European markets.
