Warsaw, May 2 - Ukraine guarantees uninterrupted transportation of Russian gas to Europe across its territory, Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yuriy Prodan said.

“We will be fully honoring all agreements,” Novak said to journalists in Warsaw on Friday.

Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said Russia has made an advance payment for the Ukrainian energy company Naftogaz’s transportation services until September 2014. “The second contract for [gas] supplies to European consumers has been paid for in advance through September,” he said.

It was reported earlier that Russia had originally paid for gas transportation across Ukraine in advance until the end of 2014. However, growth in gas price for Ukraine automatically raised the cost of the transportation services, and so the prepaid sum is to be spent earlier.

Novak added that “about 12 billion cubic meters of gas has to be pumped into Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities, which is necessary for reliable and uninterrupted supplies to European countries in the fall and winter period.”

Novak warned that deliveries to Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities are not guaranteed, and there could be disruptions in gas supplies.
