Units of the Ukrainian armed forces and the National Guard are continuing an offensive on illegal armed groups in Luhansk and Donetsk regions and claim to free Luhansk airport, the press center of the military operation in eastern Ukraine reported on its Facebook account.

“We have unblocked the Luhansk airport and entered Donetsk airport,” the press center said.

The offensive is also continuing in the areas of Lysychansk and Severodonetsk, it said.

Militants of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) fired artillery shells and mortar rounds at the Luhansk airport and checkpoints near Sukha Balka, Chervonopartyzansk, and Oleksandro-Kalynove, it said.

No reports have been made on casualties sustained by the conflicting parties.
