Another round of consultations of the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) on the settlement of the situation on the east of Ukraine with representatives of the self-proclaimed Donetsk (DPR) and Luhansk (LPR) People's Republics on Jan. 9 has produced no results, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has reported.

“Unfortunately, according to the reports that we received, the contact group has recently held inconclusive talks, and no agreement was reached yesterday at a video conference with representatives of some districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions,” the director of the policy and communications department of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Oleksiy Makeyev, told the 112 Ukraine television channel on Jan. 10.

He said that no result had been achieved due to the position of DPR and LPR representatives “who do not express their willingness to observe the agreements signed in Minsk.”

The OSCE’s press service reported earlier that the trilateral contact group on the settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine on Jan. 9 held consultations with DPR and LPR representatives in the form of a video conference.

“The Trilateral Contact Group, consisting of senior representatives of Ukraine, the Russian Federation and the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, met on Jan. 8-9, and held another round of consultations with representatives of the certain areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions in the form of a video-conference on Jan. 9, 2015,” reads the statement.

According to the report, the sides discussed the following issues: the implementation of the Minsk Protocol and the Minsk Memorandum of Sept. 5 and Sept. 19, 2014 respectively, with a special focus on the establishment of a sustainable cease-fire; the release of remaining hostages and illegally detained persons; humanitarian assistance to the crisis affected areas in eastern Ukraine; and economic and social issues.
