The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry believes that before making a decision on the sending of humanitarian aid from Russia it is necessary to hold consultations with the participation of the International Committee of the Red Cross, the trilateral contact group and the OSCE.
“We believe that the decision on the expediency of sending Russian humanitarian aid should be preceded by productive consultations with the participation of the International Committee of the Red Cross, the trilateral contact group and the OSCE in order to determine the real needs for such assistance both in terms of a list of goods and their amount, the receipt of clear security guarantees for humanitarian cargo, and persons who will accompany it on the part of Ukrainian territory, which is temporarily controlled by illegal armed groups,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis said at a briefing on Aug. 27.
He noted that it was necessary to agree on a detailed route of the aid convoy and the order of its escort by the ICRC.
“Given this position, respective consultations between all involved parties and institutions will be held in the near future,” he said.
As reported, Ukraine received a note from Russia on its intention to send the second part of humanitarian aid to Ukraine. In its response, Perebyinis said on Tuesday, Kyiv informed the Russian side of gross violations during the previous delivery and warned Moscow of the need to follow strict rules.
