A Ukrainian crew member of Greenpeace ship Arctic Sunrise, Ruslan Yakushev, received two months in jail from a local court in Murmansk, Russia, on Sept. 29. The court continued to hear the cases of Greenpeace activists who attempted to get onto an oil platform that belongs to Gazprom Oil Shelf, a Russian company, on Sept. 18, in the Barents Sea.

Yakushev
did not take part in the protest against sea drilling in the Arctic,
according to Channel 5. However, 22 out of 30 activists aboard the
Arctic Sunrise were arrested the following day by the Russian coastal
guard. The Greenpeace ship was confiscated by the Russian
authorities. According to Greenpeace, an international activist group, all documents aboard the ship
were confiscated.
