Ukrainian government forces in the eastern part of the country have been fired upon with various types of weapons, and the militants have also regularly attempted to storm their strongholds, Andriy Lysenko, a spokesman for the presidential office, said at a news briefing in Kyiv on Saturday.

The enemy ‘is continuing to redeploy its hardware, particularly artillery, to intensify the shelling of Ukrainian government forces’ positions,’ using mortars, grenade launchers, and firearms, including sniper weapons, he said.

Seven attacks with the use of 120-mm mortars and five with 122-mm artillery pieces have been recorded over the past 24 hours, Lysenko said. The militants also used tanks twice, he said.
