You're reading: Ukrainian Health Ministry: We do our best to prevent HIV-infection spread

Ukrainian Health Minister Illia Yemets and U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator and Ambassador Eric Goosby have discussed cooperation in fulfilling the regulations of U.S.-Ukraine Partnership Framework on HIV/AIDS in 2011-2015.

Yemets said that the ministry as the coordinator of the implementation of state policy on fighting HIV/AIDS in Ukraine would do all it can to stabilize the situation with the spread of HIV infection, to ensure equal access of Ukrainian citizens to good-quality advice services and treatment for such diseases, the press service of the Health Ministry reported on Wednesday.

The sides also discussed the issues of carrying out of replacement therapy for injecting drug users to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.

U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine John Tefft also attended the meeting.

The Partnership Framework Agreement between Ukraine and the United States on HIV/AIDS in 2011-2015 was signed in Washington on February 15, 2011.
